对于我们为什么要上大学，不同的人有不同的看法。有些学生上大学是为了建设我们的祖
国。还有的觉得有了大学文凭，将来一定能够找到一个好工作。也有的学生则是被父母强迫去
上大学。
事实上大学的生活和毕业后的工作往往会使我们大失所望。尤其在当今激烈的社会竞争
中，大学毕业生要想找到一份满意的工作也不太容易。在我看来，大学为人们提供了良好的学
习机会和必要的设施。作为学生，我们应该充分利用这些资源为我们的将来做好准备。这才应
该是我们上大学的主要原因。
尽管我们上大学的原因各不相同，但我觉得最关键的是要好好珍惜这个学习机会，不要浪
费时间。
Why do We Attend University?
Considering why we should attend universities, different people may have different
ideas. Some students want to go to college for the construction of our country. Other
students believe they are bound to find a better job with college education. Meanwhile,
there are also some students who are forced to attend university by their parents.
Actually, life in the colleges and jobs we can find after graduate are usually quite to
our disappointment. Especially under the severe competition of today's society, it is not
very easy for a college graduate to find a satisfying job. So far as I am concerned,
universities can provide good study opportunities and essential facilities. As a student,
We should take full advantage of these things to have enough preparation for our future.
I believe this should be the main reason why we go to college.
Though our reasons for going to college differ from each other, I think the most
important thing is to cherish this good study opportunity, never wasting the time.
2．金钱能买到幸福吗？
现在，社会上有许多人认为，他们拥有的钱越多，能够得到的幸福就越多。因此，他们
想方设法去赚钱，甚至不惜违背法律。
但是，在我看来，最大的幸福在于人们对其周围环境的满意程度。只要我们拥有一个愉
悦的心情，我们就会幸福。这和我们有多少钱并没有关系。社会上有许多有钱人，但是他们中
有很多人并没能享受到真正的幸福；相反许多贫穷的家庭却过着幸福的生活。
因此，人们不应该太看重钱，相反，他们应该做得是把钱用在正道上。最重要的是，人
们应该保持乐观的心态使自己永远快乐。
Can Money Buy Happiness?
Nowadays, a lot of people in the society think the more money they have, the
more happiness they will obtain. As a result, they will try their best to get money, even
without considering the law.
But in my view, the greatest happiness lies in one's satisfaction with his
surroundings. So long as we have a happy heart to face everything, we can be happy. It
has nothing to do with the amount of money we have. As we can see in the real society,
there are far too many rich people, but lots of them can not enjoy the real happiness.
However, many poor families are leading a satisfying life.
Therefore, people shouldn't pay too much attention to the money. On the contrary,
what they should do is to put their money to the right use. Above all, they should try to
have an optimistic mind to make them happy all the time.

3. 诚实过时了吗？
大多数中国人对于“狼来了”的故事都十分熟悉。我们从小便被告之要诚实待人。
然而，在我们成长的过程中，我们发现要想做到永远诚实实在是非常困难。有时，我们
被迫去撒谎。还有些时候，我们发现不诚实的人得到了利益而诚实的人得到的却是失败。而且
某些时候为了不伤害他人我们不得不撒谎。因此，人们在困惑诚实是否已经过时了。
在我看来，诚实应该成为中国人所推崇的一种品格。我们应该尽量避免撒谎（即使是善
意的谎言）。只有这样, 我们才能迎来一个纯洁的社会。
Is Honesty Going out of Style?
To most Chinese people, we are quite familiar with the story of three Cries for
Wolves? We have been taught to be honest when we are very young.
However, as we grow up, we find that it is difficult to be honest all the time.
Sometimes, we are forced to tell lies. Other times, we find people who are dishonest can
enjoy great pleasure while honest people have to suffer failures. And still there are times
when we have to tell lies in order not to hurt others. Consequently, people are wondering
whether honesty is going out of style.
As far as I am concerned, honesty should always be an important character
valued by our Chinese. We should try our best to avoid telling lies (even white lies).
Only by this, is a clean society awaiting us.
4. 论娱乐
如果我们不参加各种娱乐活动的话，要保持身体健康是不可能的。一个不会娱乐的人必定不会很好地工作。
工作之余，我们可以参加各种各样的活动。许多人喜欢工作、工作再工作，因为他们认为工作是最重要的事。但是这样的话，在办公室里坐的时间过久，我们的眼睛和大脑都很容易疲劳，即使听音乐、看电视或者看电影也无济于事。因此我认为最好多参加户外活动，以使我们的肌肉得到锻炼。比如说：打篮球、踢足球、打乒乓球、游泳、跑步等等都不失为好主意，甚至去野餐也可以。
我们的大脑需要经常活动才能保持灵敏、活跃。请牢牢记住那句古老的谚语：“只工作不会玩，聪明的孩子也会变傻”。只有适度娱乐，一个人才能有很美好的生活。
On Recreation
It is impossible for us to keep fit unless we often take part in activities of recreation. One can not work well if he can not get an active recreation.
There are various kinds of games in our daily life after work. Many people like working and working, because in their mind working is the most important thing. But we usually sit too long in our office, and it is easy for our eyes and brain to get tired even when listening to music, watching TV or going to the cinema. So I think we had better have more outdoor activities to supply our muscles with exercise. For example, it is a good idea to play basketball, football, table tennis, go swimming and do some running, even go for a picnic.
Our brain also need changes to make it smart and active. Please bear the old saying in mind: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Only by taking proper entertainment, can one have a wonderful life.
5. 我对限放鞭炮的看法
我们许多人脑海里仍然保留着这个美好的记忆:童年时的春节是在鞭炮闪闪的火花和轰隆隆的爆炸声中度过的。
但是由于鞭炮带来了一些灾难，许多大城市对于城区燃放鞭炮做出了严格的限制。对于这个决定，有的人非常难过。他们认为这样会失去传统节日的风味。他们不考虑鞭炮所带来的火灾和对人体的伤害，一味地强调鞭炮所带来的乐趣。
随着现代社会的发展，我们的生活会发生越来越多的变化。有些变化对我们的传统提出了挑战。但是，我们应支持政府出于全社会利益而制定的政策。并且，在步入新世纪之际，我们应该采取更加文明的方式来庆祝节日。

My Views on the Control on Firecrackers(鞭炮)
Most of us may still hold a happy memory in our minds. When we were young, the Spring Festival was celebrated with the company of the flaming sparks and the loud explosions of firecrackers.
But because of the numerous disasters caused by them, governments in some big cities have made very severe control on the firecrackers in the downtown areas. Some people are sad about this decision. They argue that they will lose the flavor of some traditional festivals. Regardless of the fires and the damages on human bodies caused by firecrackers, they only focus on the pleasure firecrackers can bring about.
With the development of the modern society, more and more changes will take place in our lives. Some of the changes may be great challenges against the traditions. Yet we should support the government's policy under the consideration of the whole society. What's more, we should take some more civilized way to celebrate holidays upon stepping into the new century.
6. 课外上网的利弊
随着电脑技术的发展，互联网已经越来越受到大家的欢迎。
对于学生是否应该在课外时间上网，大家意见各异。一些学生认为使用互联网有益处。主要原因有以下几点：第一，互联网上信息资源丰富，因此你不必花费大量的时间在图书馆就可以搜索到你所需要的信息。而且，使用互联网和其他人交往也很方便。
然而，另外一些学生认为使用互联网有弊端，因为网上也有对学生不好的信息。还有，花费过多的时间沉迷于网络游戏不仅会对学生的学业产生不良影响而且对健康也有坏处。
因此，我们应该正确使用互联网。对我们来说，（能够）从杂草中区分出禾苗来是非常重要的。
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Surfing the Internet

7. 饲养宠物

然而，宠物也会给他人带来麻烦。有些人抱怨他们的生活被如此多的狗吠声所骚扰。甚至还发生多起小猫小狗伤及孩子的事例。因此，许多人认为饲养宠物应该受到限制。
就我而言，宠物是我们的朋友，我们应该善待他们。然而我们也应顾及他人的感受。我希望在我们享受宠物给我们带来的快乐时，他人仍能够拥有宁静平和的生活。

8．谈节约
大家都知道，当高中生毕业的时候，他们的资料还有课本大部分都扔掉了，其中好多都还可以用。这是多大的浪费呀！
我建议我们应该回收这些书。一方面，回收这些书可以节约很多自然资源，这些资源可以被用来制作新的课本。另一方面，高中生很可能在书页上做了很多笔记，这些笔记对后来的使用者会很有帮助的。
目前，我们都在号召建立节约型社会。我认为这对我们国家的长远利益具有相当的意义。事实上，在澳大利亚和其它一些国家，回收课本已经很流行了，这给我们树立了一个很好的榜样。
On saving (S1)As we know, when senior students graduate from school, most of their reference books (as well as textbooks), which are still in good condition are thrown away. (S9)In fact, in Australia and some other countries, recycling textbooks is popular, which gives us a good example.
9. 关于“超级女声”
最近，我们班就这几年持续火爆的“超级女声”现象进行了一场讨论。对此现象同学们持有不同观点。
62%的同学支持这个观点。他们认为这可以为有歌唱才华的女孩子提供展示自我的机会；还有，借此也可以让新歌手得到锻炼和培养，促进音乐的发展；而且，还可以增强她们的竞争意识。
然而，38% 的同学对此观点持反对态度。他们认为许多学生因比赛而花费大量时间和精力，一些学生甚至产生一夜成名的想法，不集中精力学习；更糟糕的是，这还误导某些学生盲目崇拜偶像。
依我之见，我们可以有自己的爱好和偏向，但是我们不应该在追星的潮流中迷失自己。 On
